SDBA Unlock

About SDBA Unlock

We read 401(k) filings, find the plans that include a brokerage window, and tell the employees in them — with the page from their own plan's audit.

What we do

Roughly one in four employer 401(k) plans includes a self-directed brokerage window. Almost no one who has one knows it's there, because employers can't give investment advice and recordkeepers don't promote it. We find the plans that have it in public Department of Labor filings and we tell the people in those plans. To our knowledge we are the only service dedicated to this benefit, and ours is the first public search tool built for it.

What we don't do

We don't give investment advice. We don't manage money. We don't hold money, and we never ask for your login. We don't sell anything to you.

How we're paid

You never pay us. If you ask for an introduction to a licensed advisor, we make it, and no one pays us for it. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it does.
